| Screening
exams help you stay in control of your health and give
you peace of mind. Just as you would see your physician
for an annual check-up, you can schedule regular CT
scans to look for any potential health problems. Additional
risk factors such as a history of disease or of smoking
would increase the importance of CT screening. The goal
is to catch any difficul- to-diagnose or abnormal conditions
and treat them early—before you experience any
symptoms.
No doctor's referral is necessary
for a screening exam. Since screening exams are considered
elective procedures, insurance companies do not typically
cover their costs. Talk to your insurance company or
one of the insurance experts at our office for more
information. Typically, for screening exams, payment
is requested at the time of service. We accept the following
forms of payment: Cash, Check, Visa, MasterCard, American
Express and Discover.
We currently offer these screening
exams at the following costs:
• Bone Density $150
• CT Coronary Angiography
$1,100
• Heart Scan (Calcium
Scoring) $225
• Lung Scan $325
• Heart and Lung Scan
$500
• Virtual Colonography
(VC) $800
• Whole Body Scan
(includes Calcium Scoring, Chest, Abdomen and Pelvis)
$700
• Whole Body Scan
and Bone Density $825
• Whole Body Scan
and Virtual Colonography $1,400
• CT Coronary Angiography
and Whole Body Scan $1,650
• Iodine contrast
(if necessary) add $75
When do I need
contrast?
For some studies, it is easier to detect abnormalities
such as small lesions when intravenous (IV) contrast
is used. A CT scan "with contrast" means that
you will receive an injection of iodine dye used to
highlight specific areas within the scan.
Although there is some risk involved
when you receive IV contrast, we feel that the risk
is outweighed by the benefits in most cases. If you
choose to use IV contrast for your screening examination,
we will ask you to fill out a questionnaire in advance
to determine if IV contrast is not recommended for you.
Also make sure to tell us in advance if you have any
allergies, especially to iodine or shellfish.
